Parents and family members are critical to student success. Students count on their families for support, advice, and encouragement. At UB, Parent & Family Programs is here to help parents/families stay connected to resources, events and people that can help support their students success.

Join Us On Campus
- Start off by attending Parent & Family Orientation
Share your student's excitement by joining UB at Parent Orientation and learn about important tools and resources that will help you and your student make a successful transition to UB.
- Join us for UB events
At UB we hold hundreds of programs annually for students, our community and our faculty and staff. Many programs are open to parents and families and the community.
- Opening Weekend: join us for the weekend that kicks the new academic year off with special events for both you and your student.
- Family Weekend: Every year, families and students reunite to revisit what makes UB great. The weekend features activities to help families experience college life at UB.

Consider becoming a member of the UB Parent Advisory Board
A parent group that provides insight to Student Affairs leadership on that are important to parents and families, to help enhance student success. Members are representative of various geographic regions and class years and serve for one academic year, with the option to renew for the following year. The number of parents on the board will be limited to 50 individuals/families. View more information.
Help UB Students
Your experience, your knowledge and your perspective are extremely valuable to UB students. Whether you interview on campus, volunteer as a mentor or contribute to the Parent Fund, there are many ways to help UB students.
Be a mentor or volunteer
- REALM (Real Experience and Leadership Mentoring)
Serve as a mentor for a single day. This one-day job shadowing program gives UB students a chance to broaden their leadership skills by watching local business and community leaders at work.
Help out locally by providing an internship/mentoring opportunity for disadvantaged students (Buffalo area only.) Saturdays of Service

Volunteer with us! Join UB students at monthly local community service projects or suggest a non-profit that could use some extra help.
Assist with Career Opportunities
- UB Career Community
Co-sponsored by Career Services and the UB Alumni Association) the Career Community has a volunteer base of 1,000+ alumni, parents, and employers from around the globe who serve as a resource to UB students and recent graduates, offering their perspective on career choice, internships, job searching, continuing education and professional advancement.
