At UB we hold hundreds of programs annually for students, our community and our scholarly peers. Most student programs are focused on enhancing the campus experience, teaching life skills, and supporting these UB priorities:

Here are some highlight events that are open to UB parents and the community:

Month Program Description
August University Welcome UB's President welcomes you back to campus and a new academic year.
August Opening Weekend - September Welcome The ultimate kickoff to the UB Experience!! Includes Welcome Back Bash, new student picnic, President's Welcome and much more.
September Operation Doorhanger Student volunteers distribute doorhangers to neighbors in University Heights - to build awareness of safety and responsibility issues.
October Homecoming UB welcomes home alumni and friends to the traditional homecoming weekend. Events have included a home Bulls football game, tent party, and much more.
October Family Weekend Family Weekend happens each fall and is an enduring UB tradition. It is a chance for students and families to reunite to revisit what makes UB great. Events have included comedy shows, ice cream socials, tours, coffee houses, family brunch and concerts.
October Marching Band concerts Thunder of the East, UB's Marching Band, is exciting! Hear them play.
November Take Back the Night Walk with your friends at this candle-lit procession to raise awareness about violence prevention.

Countdown to Commencement Countdown to Commencement is a University-wide tradition for graduating students to help them celebrate their achievement and their UB experience. The program includes our traditional Senior Brunch served by UB faculty and staff, sign-a-buffalo, Play Day, Rose Day and several community service events, all culminating in the pomp and circumstance of commencement.
February International Fiesta A student-run celebration of cultural dance and food traditions.
February Valentine's Dinner – Campus Dining & Shops Spend an elegant evening of music and gourmet dining - use your meal plan and bring guests.

& March
Career fairs A job fair for everyone. Parents and the community are encouraged to recruit at UB's job fairs. Hire the best. Hire UB.
March Student Employee of the Year award Recognizing UB students who are exceptional employees.
April REALM (Real Experience and Leadership Mentoring) Serve as a mentor for a single day. This one-day job shadowing program gives UB students a chance to broaden their leadership skills by watching local business and community leaders at work.
April Relay for Life Fundraiser to support American Cancer Society.
April Student Remembrance Ceremony Remembering UB students who passed away during the academic year.
May Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Men walk on campus in women's shoes to raise awareness of violence against women.
May ALANA Celebration of Achievement A pre-commencement ceremony to recognize the achievement of graduating African, African American, Caribbean, Latino/a, Asian, and Native American students. Pre-registration required.
May Commencement Weekend  
May Orientation – Parent & Family Welcome, new students and parents, to UB. A parent/family session takes place simultaneously with the new student orientation.
